"OFF COURSE" DESIGNTO EXHIBITION

Between January 17 and 26, 2020, my thesis class collaborated with a graphic design thesis class in an exhibition of in-progress thesis work as part of the DesignTO Festival. Preparing for the exhibition required in-depth refinement and revision of my previous semester of work, and one challenge for me in particular was how to explain my (rather arcane, conceptual) project to a layperson as approachably as possible, while allowing room for my prototypes to speak for themselves. Exhibiting was a wonderful experience which gave me ample opportunity to feel proud of what I had accomplished thus far, and to connect with visitors and community members and hear their responses to the stuff I had to say—a reality check, if you will.

I revised my caption extensively for clarity and approachability, leading to this final draft which combined appropriate theoretical keywords with descriptions of tangible experiences:
